City of Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas met with Vice-President Joseph Biden last week at a reception in honor of Hispanic Heritage month. “It was an honor to visit with the Vice-President Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, in their home. They both made me feel most welcomed,” Mayor Salinas stated. “Vice-President Biden was very interested in what I had to share with him about Laredo, the border and immigration reform. I thanked him for the leadership he and President Obama have demonstrated in dealing with the youth who are pushing for the DREAM Act. We also talked about the need for an efficiently operating, but secure border that builds bridges of friendship.
Before I left, I thanked the vice-president for the grants Laredo has obtained for public safety, such as the COPS grant for the Laredo Police Department and grants that the Laredo Fire Department has received. Finally, I thanked him for the support that the Obama Administration has provided to the Laredo airport.”
