(Laredo, Tx)- Twenty-six deserving students will be receiving scholarships on Wednesday, August 8, during a dinner presentation. The John Amaya Laredo Independent School District III Board Member Scholarship Dinner is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., at La Posada’s Phillip V Room. This is the 12th consecutive year that Amaya presents scholarships to college bound LISD graduates.
Since the inception of the Amaya Scholarship program, more than 230 LISD students have received financial support for their higher education. “There’s a great need for scholarships in our community,” Amaya said. “Our kids need that extra support. Some of these students have already attended their orientation sessions and have incurred expenses for travel, books, and tuition. Our students are very deserving and I want to thank all of our partners for supporting this project.”
Recipients from J.W. Nixon High School include Katherine Martinez, Anelia Odette Salinas, Rosalinda Taylor, Kimberly N. Pena, Luis A. Reyna, Kenia Garcia, Amy Trevino, Veronica Yvette Solis, Cynthia L. Rodriguez, and Benito E. Renteria Jr.
