Students enrolled in Texas A&M International University’s College of Arts and Sciences Criminal Justice Program will see some changes in the Program this Fall. The changes give graduate students the opportunity to complete their degree sooner and undergraduates a chance to take new classes, including online courses.
“The Criminal Justice Program is making a few changes to our online graduate program. Beginning Fall 2012, the Master of Science in Criminal Justice Program will offer 5-week online courses instead of 15-week classes,” stated Dr. Claudia E. San Miguel, Program director.
“We offer a wide array of courses in a 5-week format which should allow graduate students to complete their degree in less than 2 years,” Dr. San Miguel said.
The Program is entirely online, which allows working students the flexibility to complete coursework while working full-time or part-time.
The courses included in the 5-week program are: CRIJ 5301—Advanced Seminar in Criminal Justice (Thursday, Aug. 23 – Wednesday, Sept. 26); CRIJ 5303 – Law and Criminal Justice (Thursday, Sept. 27 – Wednesday, Oct. 31); CRIJ 5326 – Seminar on Police Practices (Thursday, Nov. 1 – Wednesday, Dec. 5).
Students must enroll for courses before Thursday, Aug. 23, including classes starting Sept. 27 or Nov. 1.
“Students who need more information about our online courses are encouraged to attend an orientation/registration session Aug. 21 from 3 – 5 p.m. at Bob Bullock Hall, room 101,” San Miguel said.
Undergraduate students will notice additional courses in the schedule.
“We have added a few more classes and in particular, a few online classes for undergraduate students,” added San Miguel.
She said the new courses are: CRIJ 4340 – Criminal Procedure Law and CRIJ 4340 – Multicultural Issues in Criminal Justice.
