(Laredo, Tx)- Former Mayor of Eagle Pass, Chad Foster, passed away after a long battle with cancer. City of Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas considered the former statesman not only a personal friend, but also, a true friend to South Texas for his tireless efforts to work on border issues as chair of the Texas Border Coalition.
“I got an opportunity to get to know Chad when we worked together as a part of the Texas Border Coalition; especially, as we fought against the border wall” said Mayor Salinas. “He was an excellent public servant, working tirelessly and at the forefront of issues for his constituents and for the border.”
“I want to express my most heartfelt condolences to Chad’s family and to the City of Eagle Pass,” continued Mayor Salinas. “He was a truly humble man, with a big heart and a big hat,” he concluded, referring to the former mayor’s trademark cowboy hat he wore everywhere, including when testifying before Congress on various border issues.
A viewing will be held 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Yeager Barrera Mortuary in Eagle Pass. A funeral is planned for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Refuge Church. Mayor Salinas plans to attend both to pay his respects.
