Knitters and crocheters from TAMIU and the general community, regardless of their ability level, are invited to knit and crochet at TAMIU to celebrate “Worldwide Knit and Crochet” in Public Day, Wednesday, June 13, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the Student Center Rotunda.
Worldwide Knit and Crochet in Public Day is the largest knitter-run event in the world. The event at TAMIU is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to bring a working project and either a bag or basket of their own yarn and a few completed projects, if any, for a spectacular display of colors, textures and styles.
The event in Laredo is being hosted by the TAMIU Knit and Wit Society. The Society gathers once a month to knit and crochet for worthy causes as well as to share humor, stories of adventure and wisdom. The Society will soon start working on its next project, “100 Hats for 100 Kids,” which aims to knit or crochet (at least) 100 hats for children entering into the Foster Care System in Texas.
