Laredo ISD’s Library and Media Services Department has implemented a summer reading program to improve reading skills. To cultivate a love for reading, the Laredo Independent School District and the Laredo Public Library have partnered to host a series of summer book discussions for the students to enhance their understanding of their reading selections. Incoming sixth graders are currently reading Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell. Ninth grade students are reading The Pearl by John Steinbeck.
The event is held at the Laredo Public Library (1120 E. Calton Rd.) inside the HEB Multipurpose Room. The program continues today Wednesday, June 20, 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. for 9th grade students
