(Laredo, Tx)- With summer school classes coming to an end this week, one local high school is already reaching out to their parents for the upcoming fall semester.
Cigarroa High School parent liaison Carlos Rene Ramirez is spending his summer days providing important back to school information for CHS families.
Ramirez has parented with several South Laredo businesses to be readily available to the parents in the surrounding community. Yesterday, Ramirez was available to parents and students at the McDonald’s Restaurant located on Zacatecas and Highway 83. Today, June 27, he will be at Danny’s Restaurant on 4450 S. Zapata Hwy, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On Thursday, June 28, Ramirez will also be distributing back to school information at the Wal-Mart on 4401 S. US Highway 83 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Ramirez is providing information regarding the campus, important dates, six weeks periods, and all the services, sports and clubs that are available for students to enroll in. In addition, he is providing parents with calendars, standardized dress code information, school supplies lists, and making sure that every incoming ninth grade student is informed and set to attend the annual “Fish camp” that will be held on Thursday, August 23 at 9:00 a.m. and at 6:00 p.m. at the schools competition gym.
Ramirez came up with the idea of providing outreach to the parents to better assist them and their children with a great high school experience. He said, “We need to make ourselves available to the parents. We need to go to them and provide them with the essentials to make sure that they are successful in school.” Ramirez hopes to continue making this an annual outreach partnership and inspire other Laredo schools to take initiative in assisting their communities.
