TAMIU Students Blogging About Chilean Travel

Courtesy Steve Harmon,

Although they’re over 4,500 miles away, a group of 15 Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) students are sharing their study travel program experiences in Chile via regular blog posts.

The students’ blogs have recounted their travel, impressions of Chile and their visit to the orphanage that was the setting for the book. Their study-travel experience is focused on Chilean culture, social reality, international relations, history and economics.

To follow the students’ blog, go to http://reading.tamiu.edu/

The freshmen students were selected after a competitive essay based on their reading of the University’s campus read selection, “Santiago’s Children:  What I Learned About Life at an Orphanage in Chile,” by writer Steve Reifenberg.

Students participating in the study-travel project are: Judith Abrego, Carolina Atilano, Alejandra Ortiz-Caballero, Joseph Dilworth, Uriel Domínguez, Sabrina Espinoza, Lisa Estrada, Selina Fuentes, Katherine Garza, José  Jacobo, Leslie Martínez, Margaret Medellín,  Francisco Palacios, Norma Nuñez and Daniel Villalobos.

For more information, call the TAMIU Office of Public Relations, Marketing and Information Services at 956.326.2180, email prmis@tamiu.edu or visit offices in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, room 268.

The Spring semester at TAMIU begins Tuesday, Jan. 17.
