(Laredo, Tx)-Councilman Esteban Rangel, whose city council district boasts schools of both school districts, is hoping to provided elementary kids who have excelled in school with a very Merry Christmas.
“As we have learned, there is a great need among Laredo kids for assistance,” said Cm. Rangel. “While I wish I could help them all, I am hoping to be able to reward those children who are learning to make school a priority.”
Counselors provided Rangel with a list of needy students; he then further whittled the list to those students with perfect attendance and good grades. Those students at all these seven schools will be receiving a gift from Rangel and Santa Claus. As an added bonus, students selected at Ligarde Elementary will get to have a pizza party with the council member and the man in red, as well.
This was Councilmember Rangel’s first Christmas outreach initiative since taking office this year.
