City of Laredo to designate Spur 260 Jaime Zapata Memorial Highway

LAREDO, Tx –The City of Laredo in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation will designate Spur 260 as Jaime Zapata Memorial Highway with a sign unveiling ceremony on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 10 a.m. Agent Jaime Zapata died in the line of duty while in the service to the United States Department of Homeland Security.
The event will take place at the corner of Spur 260-SH 359 in front of Gonzalez Auto Parts store. (Current Spur 260 was formerly part of Loop 20 between SH 359 (Hebbronville) and US 83 ( Zapata Highway ).
The event is being sponsored by the City of Laredo, Texas Department of Transportation, United States Department of Homeland Security, United States Customs and Border Protection-Office of Investigation ( San Antonio ), United States Border Patrol, El Metro, United Independent School District and Laredo Independent School .
