DEL RIO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry in their first significant seizure of Fiscal Year 2012 seized marijuana valued at $116,000 during a vehicle inspection.   The seizure occurred on Oct. 6, 2011 at Del Rio International Bridge . A CBP officer referred a 2000 Ford F-250 pickup driven by a 48-year-old male U.S. citizen from New Braunfels , Texas for a secondary examination. During the examination, CBP officers discovered anomalies in an auxiliary tank. Upon further examination, CBP officers discovered 67 packages containing a total of nearly 116 pounds of alleged marijuana. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $116,000.

CBP officers turned the driver over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation and seized the narcotics and the vehicle.

“This is the first significant narcotics seizure our CBP officers have made to help usher in Fiscal Year 2012.
