50 Years for Fernando Salas

(Laredo, Tx)-Jurors have sentenced Fernando Salas to 40 years in prison for the one count of Aggravated Sexual Assault and 10 years in prison for the one count of Indecency with a Child by Contact. The prosecutors for the State filed a motion to stack the sentence, which the judge granted. Therefore, the defendant shall serve 50 years in prison for his offenses.
The punishment phase began with both the State and Defense putting one witness each on the stand.
The State put the victim, “Krystal”, on the stand and the Defense put the defendant on the stand. While on the stand, the defendant told the State that he had not violated the victim and claimed that she was lying in her testimony.
After the defendant’s testimony, the State put on several rebuttal witnesses including the victim’s sister, who testified that she had also been sexually violated by the defendant.
Then, the victim’s brother took the stand and testified that when he and his siblings were living in the same household as the defendant, he witnessed the defendant enter a third female sibling’s room and sexually violate her.
