Closure of US 83 underneath IH 35 for Pavement Work

LAREDO Tx, – U.S. 83 will remain closed until 7:30 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2011 at 6 a.m., Anderson Columbia, Inc. will start rail removal under IH 35 (mile marker #18) and US 83 interchange (near Laredo Travel Information Center) using one-way traffic control. At 8 p.m. in the evening, the entire interchange will be barricaded off for weekend asphalt pavement removal work and concrete pavement replacement.
Detours in effect throughout the weekend as this thoroughfare will be closed to motorists:
NB IH 35 traffic wanting to head North on US 83 will be detoured to SH 255 (Camino Columbia Toll Road) at milepost marker #26, turn left onto SH 255, travel approximately 1.5 miles then exit to US 83 northbound (NB).
NB IH 35 traffic wanting to visit Tourist Center will be detoured to frontage road at Uniroyal exit at milepost marker #13. Traffic will be able to travel NB on east frontage road to tourist bureau. Motorists can expect alternating lane closures as they approach intersection in order to facilitate removal and replacement of roadway.
SB US 83 Traffic wanting to access IH 35 will be allowed the same route as currently traveled. Motorists can expect alternating lane closures as they approach intersection in order to facilitate removal and replacement of roadway.
SB IH 35 & SB US 83 traffic wanting to visit Laredo Travel Information Center will be detoured to exit at Uniroyal exit #13.Traffic will be able to travel NB on east frontage road to Laredo Travel Information Center.
