TAMIU FALL WELCOME WEEK IS UNDERWAY

Texas A&M International University’s Welcome Week is a yearly program that offers a variety of programs to new and returning students. During the week-long event, campus maps, souvenirs, and a variety of activities are held in order to welcome back students and get new students excited about University life. Most of these events are offered free of charge and open to all TAMIU students. The first class day for the TAMIU Fall 2011 semester isThursday, Aug. 25.
TAMIU’s Office of Student Affairs will host an information tent from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Lamar Bruni Vergara Memorial Garden on Wednesday, Aug. 24 and Thursday, Aug. 25. The information tent will assist students in finding their classes, and connectwith student services. The entire TAMIU community is encouraged to assist in welcoming our Dustdevils back to campus. Student organizations are participating in the welcome tent as well.
On Wednesday, Aug. 24, the TAMIU Housing and Residence Life along with the Office of Student Affairs and the Campus Activities Board (CAB) are hosting “Dueling Pianos,” a night of music and fun to kick-off the new academic year. The event is from 7:30 – 10:30 p.m. at the TAMIU Resident Learning Center and is free and open to the TAMIU community. Food and refreshments will be served.
On Thursday, Aug. 25, the TAMIU Office of Student Affairs will host Marshmallow Eating Contests at 11 a.m., 12 and 1 p.m. at the Lamar Bruni Vergara Garden. During the contest students will be challenged to shout TAMIU’s spirit phrase “Dust ‘Em Devils.” Winning participants will receive prizes provided by CAB. The event is free and open to TAMIU fee paying students.
