LAREDO, TX, After several months of awaiting extradition, Francisco Mares Espinoza will finally be extradited from Mexico into Laredo, TX. The US Marshals Mexico City Foreign Field Office received a notification from the Government of Mexico/Procuraduria General De La Republica (PGR) Office informing that Mares Espinoza was set for extradition from Mexico to Laredo, TX on August 03, 2011. Mares Espinoza extradition process was finalized last month and Mexico granted the request from the US to extradite him to Laredo, TX.
On March, 2011, Members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force (GCVOFTF) along with investigators from the Webb County DA’s Office coordinated the arrest of Francisco Mares Espinoza (51) in Monterrey, Mexico last March. Mares Espinoza was wanted by the DA’s Office in Laredo for Aggravated Sexual Assault.
On March 31, 2011, Mares Espinoza was apprehended by Agents from the Mexican Federal Investigations Agency (AFI) after developed information revealed his possible whereabouts in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. He was arrested without incidents. Mares Espinoza was sought by Mexican Agents after a Provisional Warrant was requested by the Webb County DA’s Office for his arrest in Mexico.
Mares Espinoza was apprehended in 2007 in Zapata County after allegations of a possible sexual assault on a minor. Police reports said that Mares Espinoza allegedly, sexually assaulted the minor for approximately two years. The investigation revealed that Mares Espinoza infected the victim with the venereal disease of Herpes. Further information stated that he allegedly sexually assaulted another victim in 1997. Due to the gruesome details provided by the victims, the GCVOTF and the Webb county DA’s Office targeted this individual as a priority.
Thanks to the support of the GCVO Task Force, the Webb County DA’s Office and the AFI Agents in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, the arrest of Mares Espinoza was a total success and he will now face Justice in Laredo for the crime he committed.
