Commissioner Canales To Present Donated Computers

Since taking office in January, Webb County Commissioner Jaime Canales has devoted many hours in helping the youth of Laredo pursue their education. On Tuesday, August 9 Commissioner Canales will accept a donation of six computers from Chesapeake Energy. Over the years Chesapeake has developed a reputation as being one of the most philanthropic and in the energy industry. Giving to the community is one of the founding and most valued principles of Chesapeake Energy and is reflected in their community partnerships.
“I’m delighted that Chesapeake Energy saw a need for computers for use by our youth,” said Commissioner Canales. “The youth who will use this computers will have an opportunity to enrich their computer skills, which in turn, will help them achieved their educational goals.”
Three computers will be donated to St. Jude Church and three will be donated to Mother Cabrini Church for use in their youth programs. The presentation of the six computers will take place in at 10 a.m. in Commissioners Court located at 1000 Houston Street.
