Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies Intercept Guns, Magazines, Ammunition and a Silencer on a Southbound Traffic Stop

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Thursday, July 14, 2011, at approximately 6:20 p.m., Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a green Dodge Durango at the 24 mile marker on IH35 Southbound. Deputies noted discrepancies on the dashboard of the vehicle and eventually discovered 4 handguns, 32 magazines, 13 boxes of ammo and 1 silencer concealed inside. The driver, Ruben de Jesus Rangel, 28 years of age, was arrested and facing federal charges. Rangel is a convicted felon and is facing additional charges.
