Sheriff’s Deputies Seize 204 Pounds of Marijuana

Laredo, Texas – On Monday, July 11, 2011, at approximately 10:47 a.m. Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Ford Taurus on Highway 83 South. The driver refused to stop, which resulted in a brief pursuit that ended at exit ramp in Rio Bravo, Texas. The driver eventually abandoned the vehicle, where deputies discovered 9 bundles of marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle. The total weight of the marijuana was 204.3 pounds with an estimated street value of over $100,000.
“Within the last week , our officers have made significant narcotic seizures that have totaled a street value of approximately half a million dollars. These seizures have disrupted the criminal element. Furthermore, these narcotics did not make it into the hands of our children.” Stated Sheriff Martin Cuellar.
