Short-term parking fills up; Allegiant continues to support local organizations…
On June 21, 2011, the Laredo International Airport runway 17R extension project was completed. The $10.7 million extension project increased the length of 17R 911 linear feet, from 7,711 feet to 8,622 feet.
This project brings the total invested in the Laredo International Airport to $174 million in the last 15 years. LRD continues to build on its long standing relationship with the FAA. The airport continues to receive funding for airport related infrastructure projects that help the safety, security, and capacity of the airport. The airport is currently working on various grant applications for projects that will help the Laredo International Airport position itself for future global trade.
Please be advised that the availability of short-term parking outside the terminal is very low. Due to the increased flights, and strong load factors, the short-term parking lot has been completely full on a few occasions during the past few weeks. Passengers should be advised that there is plenty of free parking available in the long-term parking lot which is located to the north of short term parking, or on the right as you enter the airport.
For the month of June, Allegiant Air saw 1,000 more passengers in 2011 versus 2010 due to the new flights to Orlando, and high load factors on flights to Las Vegas. LRD reminds Allegiant passengers, as printed on the Allegiant tickets, passengers must arrive at the airport at least an hour and a half prior to the departure time. Passengers must be checked-in, have boarding passes, and clear security at least 45 minutes before the flight.
Allegiant continues to support local non-profit organizations including “Teal We Crown a Cure”, an event hosted by Laredo’s own Ana Rodriguez, Miss Texas USA 2011 and 3rd runner-up to Miss USA 2011. The event supports the National Ovarian Research Fund and will be held on August 5, 2011 at 7pm at the Laredo Country Club. For more information, e-mail tealwecrownacure@gmail.com.
