Copa LareDOS will be Settled in Laredo, Texas
Laredo, Texas-Established in 2009 to get a “friendly” rivalry between the Laredo Heat Soccer Club and the Nuevo Laredo Bravos going, the Copa LareDOS returns after a year absence.
Today, the Premier Development League’s (PDL) Laredo Heat announced the rematch versus the Nuevo Laredo Bravos of the Second Division of the Mexican Soccer Federation on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the TAMIU Soccer Complex. Kick-off for the Copa LareDOS will happen at 8:00 P.M.
In the inaugural Copa LareDOS in 2009, the Bravos took home the cup with a victory over the Gateway City club in penalty kicks. The Heat is hoping to reverse that outcome and keep the cup on this side of the border this year.
Ticket prices for this match will remain the same as the regular season pricing with adult general admission at $5.00 and $1.00 for kids 12 and under. VIP admission will also remain at $20.00 for both adults and children over two.
“This is a great match between the Sister City teams that will give some bragging rights to the winner of the Copa LareDOS”, mentioned Heat Owner Shashi Vaswani.
“This game should serve our team as a tune-up for the playoffs if all goes well the last week of the season in the Rio Grande Valley, Midland and El Paso and it will serve the Bravos as an excellent opportunity to figure out their roster for their upcoming Fall season in the FMF (Mexican Soccer Federation) as they try to replicate their success from last season and their second place finish in their league (second division)”.
Vaswani concluded, “In 2009, the game came down to the wire and it was settled by penalty kicks, with the Bravos winning but at the end of the day, what was important was that there was cultural bonding between the two Laredo’s and soccer fans in this area got a chance to see their local clubs go after it on the pitch. It should be a fun night of soccer in Laredo and I invite everyone to make it out to TAMIU to take in this match”.
