EAGLE PASS, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry on Monday seized marijuana valued at $133,000 from a vehicle driven by a San Antonio senior citizen.  The seizure occurred on July 25, 2011 at Eagle Pass Bridge I. A CBP officer referred a 1987 Ford F-150 pickup driven by a 71-year-old male U.S. citizen from San Antonio for a secondary examination. During the examination, CBP officers discovered anomalies in the gas tank of the vehicle. CBP officers conducted an intensive examination of the vehicle and discovered 125 packages containing a total of 133 pounds of alleged marijuana. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $133,000.

CBP officers turned the driver over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation.

“This is a significant narcotics seizure and it illustrates that CBP discovers contraband or other violations of federal law involving subjects of any age, race, gender or ethnicity,” said Cynthia O. Rodriguez, CBP Port Director, Eagle Pass.
