US 83 Widening Left Turn Lane to Cielito Lindo Begins Monday

LAREDO, Tx- A new construction project consisting of the widening of US 83 ( Zapata Highway ) at Cielito Lindo for an additional left turn lane onto Cielito Lindo will commence on Monday, June 13, 2011. Work will require for the median crossing to be closed. Therefore, detours will be in effect.
Traffic exiting Cielito Lindo to travel north on US 83 must first turn south then take the first turn around to head northbound on US 83. Traffic exiting Laredo Community College South campus on Don Camilo Blvd. wanting travel northbound on US 83 must first travel south on US 83 then take first turnaround to head northbound on US 83.
Please drive slow and place close attention to traffic safety signs, road markings and channelization devices in and around the work area.
The project, calling for the installation of a left turn lane at intersection of US 83-Cielito Lindo, will be construction by Anderson Colombia Co., Inc. at a cost of $358,000. Duration of this project is approximately one month.
