LISD Class of 2011 to Receive Diplomas

The Laredo Independent School District’s graduating class of 2011 will be receiving their high school diplomas during commencement ceremonies scheduled for Thursday, June 2, and Friday, June 3. Commencement ceremonies for Cigarroa, Martin, and Nixon High Schools are scheduled for Thursday, June 2, at the Laredo Energy Arena (LEA). Graduation day begins with Cigarroa High at 10:00 a.m., with the procession of graduates starting at 9:45 a.m. Martin High School’s commencement is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. The procession of graduates for Martin High will start promptly at 1:45 p.m. Nixon High School’s convocation is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., with the procession of graduates to begin at 5:45 p.m.
Doors to the LEA will open one hour prior to each graduation ceremony.
Commencement ceremonies for the Early College High School graduating class will be held on Friday, June 3, at Texas A&M International University Kinesiology and Convocation Building (Gymnasium). Ceremonies are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. with the procession of graduates to begin at 9:45 a.m.
The parents of the top students from each high school will be guests of honor on stage along with the LISD Board of Trustees, Superintendent Dr. Marcus Nelson, and school administrators.
Admission to LISD’s graduation ceremonies is free. However, a ticket is required at the door. Tickets will be distributed by each high school during rehearsals.
For those who cannot attend the ceremonies, LISD will be airing the graduations live via the districts web site at www.laredoisd.org/graduation.
LISD’s Instructional Television (ITV) will also broadcast edited versions of the ceremonies later in June on Cable Channel 18.
