Webb County To Unveil Casseb Bust

Webb County Commissioners will be unveiling a bust in memory of the late Judge Solomon Casseb, Jr. in special ceremonies to be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1st. The ceremony will be held in the Central Jury Room of the Webb County Justice located at 1100 Victoria Street.
Senior District Judge Solomon Casseb, Jr. was well known in the Laredo community and attended St. Mary’s University and the University of Texas Law School. He was admitted to practice law in 1938.
During his professional career Judge Casseb received many honors including: Outstanding Trial Judge by the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Judge Joe Frazier Brown Award, St. Thomas More Award, Webb County Bar Association “Lifetime Achievement Award”, and he was named the 1961 Outstanding Ex-Student of St. Mary’s University and “Mr. South Texas” for 1991.
Judge Casseb’s service as co-trustee of the Lamar Bruni Vergara Trust gave him the opportunity to accomplish many benefits for the residents of Laredo and Webb County. During his tenure, the trust made more than $65,000,000 in charitable, civic, religious and educational grants.
