Prom season is right around the corner and local businesses are making sure that some very deserving young ladies attend their dance in style.
The Laredo Independent School District Office of Communications announced their second annual initiative called, “Operation Belle of the Ball.” The program gives economically disadvantaged young women the opportunity to find their prom dress, free of charge, and attend their prom feeling confident, stylish, and included in all the memorable events.
Senior girls from all of the Laredo ISD high school campuses were selected by their counselors based on financial need. They will be receiving a new formal gown, accessories, make-over’s, and hairstyling courtesy of Laredo businesses partnering with Laredo ISD’S “Operation Belle of the Ball.”
Sponsors include: La Sposa Bridal and 15 and Company, D’ Mademoiselle, J.C. Penney Department Store, Laredo Beauty College, Joe Brand and Narvaez Flower Shop along with the Pink To Do organization.
Starting off prom season will be Martin High School on Friday, May 6. Laredo Early College High School, Cigarroa, and Nixon High Schools will host their proms on Saturday, May 14.
