CBP Officers Seize 424 Rolls of Textiles Undervalued by $78,000 for Export Violation

LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers from Laredo Port of Entry seized a shipment of textiles from China valued at more than $108,000 for export violation. CBP officers at World Trade Bridge Export Lot on April 1 conducted an exportation verification of a shipment of 424 rolls of textiles presented for export. During the review, CBP officers discovered that the claimed value of the merchandise in the export documentation was significantly lower than the value cited when it originally arrived as an in-bond shipment. CBP officers detained and then seized the shipment as exportation contrary to law for allegedly undervaluing the shipment by $78,570.
“This is an excellent interception by our CBP officers at the World Trade Bridge Export Lot and it reflects the commitment of CBP to enforce U.S. export law on behalf of the Department of Commerce,” said Jose Uribe, Acting Port Director, Laredo Port of Entry.
An important part of the CBP mission remains the facilitation of legitimate trade. In addition to its own regulations, CBP enforces more than 400 laws on behalf of more than 40 other U.S. government agencies including the Department of Commerce. A large number of these import restrictions and requirements are designed to protect the American people from dangerous and illegal goods, and protect the U.S. economy.
