The Domestic Violence Unit of the District Attorney’s Office reports that Rene J. Valenciano has been indicted by a grand jury in the 49th District Court for the following charges:
3 CTS. Aggravated Assault (2nd degree Felony)
3 CTS. Assault (Class A Misdemeanor)
Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor)
Attempt to Take Weapon from Officer (State Jail Felony)
The indictment formally charges Valenciano for alleged crimes arising out of an incident that took place on September 26, 2010. On that date, Valenciano is alleged to have pointed a firearm and threatened three individuals: his girlfriend at the time, Crystal Martinez, as well Benjamin Weikel and Roberto Serna. He is also alleged to have struck Martinez in the face with an object, to have pulled her hair and to have caused injury to Weikel. The indictment alleges that Valenciano used force against a responding peace officer and attempted to take the officer’s firearm by force.
Future court appearances are to be set by the 49th District Court.
