Week of the Young Child Proclamation

Recently, City of Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas welcomed several daycares to City Hall, to help celebrate and proclaim the Week of the Young Child, which highlights the importance developing early learning opportunities for Laredo’s youngest citizens. The following is the proclamation:
WHEREAS, WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS FOR SOUTH TEXAS-CHILD CARE SERVICES, DFPS—LICENSING, HANDS ACROSS SOUTH TEXAS and other local organizations, in conjunction with the National Association for the Education of Young Children, are celebrating the “Week of the Young Child”; and
WHEREAS, these organizations are working to improve early learning opportunities, which are crucial to the growth and development of young children, and to build better futures for everyone in Laredo, Texas, Webb, Zapata and Jim Hogg Counties; and
WHEREAS, all young children and their families across the country and in Laredo, Texas and surrounding areas deserve access to high-quality early education and care; and
WHEREAS, in recognizing and supporting the people, programs and policies that are committed to high-quality early childhood education as the right choice for kids.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, RAUL G. SALINAS, by virtue of the authority vested in me Mayor of the City of Laredo, County of Webb, State of Texas, do hereby proclaim the week of April 10 -16, 2011 as:
“WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD IN LAREDO, TEXAS”
