Sheriff’s Deputies Seize $158,479 Worth of Marijuana

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Friday, April 15, 2011, Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a blue freightliner tractor trailer. The traffic stop was conducted at the 24 mile marker post on IH-35. While conducting the traffic stop, the Webb County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit was called to the location giving a positive alert to the odor of narcotics in the trailer box. The search resulted in 313.2 pounds of marijuana. The case was turned over to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
“This drug seizure was the result of attention to detail and the fact that our Deputies continue to stay vigilant on the highway at all times.” Sheriff Martin Cuellar stated.
