“Gasland” focuses on the new method of drilling for natural gas known as hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. This event is part of a nation-wide screening of the film hosted by Democracy for America and “Gasland” director Josh Fox. RGISC is not an affiliate of Democracy for America.
Laredo sits in the middle of a busy natural gas drilling region — Webb and Zapata counties, and now Dimmit County (Eagle Ford Shale). As such, RGISC hopes top create greater awareness about the potential risks of fracking to the quality of groundwater and surface water in our South Texas region.
The film screening is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served..
