Sheriff’s Deputies Seize 614 Pounds of Marijuana Over Spring Break Weekend

Laredo,Texas (Webb County) – On Friday, March 18, 2011, at approximately 11 p.m., Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a white in color sports utility vehicle at the intersection of Bob Bullock loop and Jacaman Road. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop after Deputies activated their emergency lights. The driver subsequently abandoned the vehicle but was later arrested in the vicinity. A vehicle search was conducted, Deputies seized 8 bundles of marijuana in back of the SUV with a total weight of 614 pounds. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $311,000. Arrested was Luis Roberto Montemayor, 17 years of age. Montemayor was transported to the Webb County jail. Montemayor is facing charges of Possession of marijuana a felony 2, Evading arrest with a motor vehicle a felony 3, and Evading arrest on foot a class A misdemeanor. No bond has been set at this time. >>>> “Our Deputies were out in full force this Spring Break Week and as a result a significant amount of drugs were taken off the streets.” Stated Sheriff Martin Cuellar.
