Commissioner Tijerina Reads to Children at Gallegos Elementary

Commissioner Pct.2 Rosaura “Wawi” Tijerina helped celebrate Dr. Seuss week before spring break by reading to students of Jose Gallegos Elementary. The Commissioner was invited by staff members of the school to read to a Dr. Seuss book to the children. Read Across America is celebrated in schools throughout the United States during the first week of March in honor of the popular children’s book author. The kids listened attentaviley to the commissioner while she read then had a chance to ask the commissioner questions that ranged from her daily duties as a public servant to her educational background.
The Commissioner spoke about the importance of a good education and about the negative effects of bullying and how to reach out in case kids are bullied.
