CBP Officers at Eagle Pass Port of Entry Seize Heroin and Cocaine Valued at $860,000; Two Arrested

 EAGLE PASS, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry on Thursday seized a combination load of heroin and cocaine valued at $860,000. The seizure resulted in the arrest of two vehicle passengers.

 The seizure occurred on Mar. 10 at the Camino Real International Bridge . A CBP officer referred a 2007 Ford Focus driven by a 28-year-old U.S. citizen from Twin Falls , Texas with a 33-year-old female Mexican citizen passenger from San Antonio for a secondary examination. In secondary, CBP officers conducted an intensive examination of the vehicle and discovered narcotics hidden in the rear part of the vehicle. Upon closer examination, CBP officers found one package containing 3.75 pounds of heroin and five packages containing a total of 15 pounds of cocaine. The narcotics have a combined estimated street value of $860,000.  

 CBP officers turned driver and passenger over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation and seized the vehicle and the contraband.

 “This combination seizure of two types of highly addictive narcotics illustrates the reality of the drug threat that our officers face on a daily basis,” said Cynthia O. Rodriguez, CBP Port Director, Eagle Pass. “Our officers are keeping their vigilance to uphold the CBP mission and keep our borders safe.”
