EAGLE PASS, TEXASU.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at Eagle Pass Port of Entry in the span of a few hours on Valentine’s Day uncovered three alleged immigration violations involving alleged impostors attempting entry to the U.S. with resident alien cards belonging to other people.   The first enforcement action occurred the morning of Feb. 14, 2011 as a CBP officer at Eagle Pass International Bridge referred a 22-year-old male pedestrian from Chalchituites, Zacatecas , Mexico for a secondary examination. The pedestrian allegedly claimed to be a legal permanent resident of the U.S. and presented a resident alien card. During secondary examination, further examination determined that the man was a Mexican citizen, that the card did not belong to the pedestrian and he had no legal documentation to enter or reside in the U.S.

At nearly the same time, CBP officers at Eagle Pass International Bridge encountered another 22-year-old male pedestrian, from Hidalgo , Mexico who allegedly claimed to be a permanent U.S. resident and presented a resident alien card.

Less than 15 minutes later, CBP officers at the same bridge encountered a third pedestrian, a 21-year-old man from Chalchituites, Zacatecas Mexico and brother of the first pedestrian who also allegedly claimed to be a legal permanent U.S. resident and presented a resident alien card.

In each enforcement action, CBP officers upon further examination determined that the pedestrians were citizens of Mexico with no legal documents to enter the U.S. and the resident alien cards they presented belonged to other people. CBP processed all three for alleged violations of immigration law.

“Our frontline CBP officers utilized their examination and document analysis skills and uncovered three alleged impostors to resident alien cards in less than a half-hour,” said Cynthia O. Rodriguez, CBP Port Director, Eagle Pass. “Their commitment to the CBP mission and effective use of their basic inspection skills lead to these rapid interceptions.”
