Holiday Causes Change in Recycling Pick-Up

Because of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday on Monday, January 17, 2011 the City of Laredo Solid Waste Services Division will collect the recycling blue bags, normally scheduled for pick-up on Mondays for zip code 78046, on Tuesday, January 18, 2011.
“Because of the MLK holiday, we’ll go by and pick-up the recycling the next day,” said Willie Bote, everyone’s favorite environmentally friendly trashcan mascot. “This way, everyone can start their recycling collecting new again,” he concluded.
The new schedule of twice monthly recycling pick-up may vary slightly, depending on holidays or other closures; however, the pick-up will still be twice a month for either recycling or branch pick-up. Customers should refer to their brochure for their designated branch and recycling pick-up schedule. Call the Solid Waste Services Division at 795-2510 to request another copy or call 3-1-1 to get the pick-up schedule.
