Fifteen (15) children have been selected to participate in a USA Savate Program to be held at the Fred & Anita Bruni Community Center scheduled to begin on Sunday, December 5, 2010.  This project is the brainchild of collaboration between Webb County Pct. 4 Commissioner Sergio “Keko” Martinez, Constable Rodolfo Rodriguez, Jr. Pct.1, Paul Buitron, USA Savate Instructor and Attorney-at-Law Jimmy Sandoval.     “Our intent is to provide the children of the community a Savate Program with concentration on Savate’s self-defense and its sporting instruction to build self-esteem, confidence and deter youth from gang membership.” Martinez said.  

This term of the USA Savate program will be for the duration of the sporting season of Savate which ends July 31, 2011. The children will meet twice a month at the Fred & Anita Community Center for the sport instruction. The program is being sponsored and paid for by Webb County Pct. 4 discretionary funds and Webb County Constable Rodolfo Rodriguez, Jr.Pct. 1.
