LPD Investigates 9th Murder of the Year

On Friday, December 10, 2010, at approximately 12:10 am, the Laredo Police Department Communications Section received several 911 calls indicating that there was a vehicle on fire by the 2200 block of McClelland Ave. Upon arrival the Laredo Fire Department personnel located a black SUV which was on fire. The Laredo Fire Department extinguished the fire and discovered the lifeless body of a male victim inside the same vehicle. The deceased man was identified as Gustavo Benavidez age 29. The Webb County Medical Examiner’s office recovered the body from the scene. The remains were transported to the Webb County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The homicide division has an open ongoing investigation into this murder.
