Mayor Salinas To Go Up On The Rooftop Once Again

Mayor Salinas has been going up on the roofs of area businesses in Laredo for the past 19 years, collecting toys, food, money and other such for the neediest in our community, because he is all for helping the community.  This year will be no different as Mayor Salinas joins his friends from Guerra Communications and camps out on the rooftop of HEBplus! to help collect blankets, scarves, hats, gloves and other such items for Laredo’s elderly.  All items will be donated to Laredo Organized Volunteers for the Elderly and Disadvantaged (LOVED), a local non-profit organization that assists the elderly year-round.

“Warm your heart and help me keep our ancianitos warm at the same time by donating to this very worthy cause,” said Mayor Salinas.  “The elderly feel the cold much deeper than we do; this will help them find warmth and joy this Christmas winter,” he concluded.

Additionally, the famous Z-93 sleigh will be parked in front of the store, not only broadcasting updates every hour on the hour, but also, collecting “Toys for Tejanitos,” which Mayor Salinas will later donate to the Sacred Heart Children’s Home and Bethany House.

Salinas and company will be camped out on the roof for three days, coming down on Thursday, December 16 at 5 PM.  Salinas recalls the lack of toys, food, money and other such necessities as a child growing up, which is why he has undertaken this initiative for the past 18 years.
