LAREDO – A weekend traffic detour is in store for northbound FM 1472 (Mines Rd.) traffic wishing left turn access into the Interamerica Industrial Park. The detour will facilitate pavement work at the intersection of FM 1472 and Interamerica Blvd. Detour and work will be in effect Friday, November 5, 2010 from 9 p.m. through Monday, November 8, 2010 at 6 a.m.
Detour: Northbound FM 1472 traffic will be detoured past the FM 1472-Interamerica Blvd. intersection to Mueller Blvd. to FM 1472 southbound, then back to FM 1472-Interamerica Blvd. for right turn access into the industrial park.
The traveling public is advised to slow down, observe advanced warning traffic safety signs, road markings and channelization devices in and around the work area. Proceed with caution.
The aforementioned work is one of the last phases of construction of the FM 1472 (Mines Rd.) Intersections Project (CSJ# 2150-04-053), ranging 1.513 miles in length, currently under construction by Price Construction, Inc. The cost of the project is $1.85 million using traditional state transportation funds.
Project specifications called for weekend work only on north- and southbound FM 1472 consisting of asphalt pavement replacement at various locations and rebuilding of intersections and intersection approaches with concrete. Intersections impacted positively by this project include Interamerica Blvd., Trade Center Blvd., Mueller Blvd. and Pan American Blvd. The project began July 9, 2010 with anticipated completion within five months, weather permitting.
