Coutesy Joe Baeza,
After a month and a half long investigation by the Laredo Police Auto Theft Division five adults and one male juvenile were served by means of an arrest warrant blitz yesterday November 11, 2010. The case broke wide open when one Ford F-250 was stopped near downtown in Mid September 2010. The truck was reported stolen locally and was recovered by the auto theft division detectives. Detectives managed to collect several names through this one case and one by one each person admitted their participation in the auto theft ring. A total of 7 auto theft cases were solved with these arrests. One Ford recovered (above mentioned) and another Ford truck recovered in Mexico were returned to the US.
The trucks were all being stolen and transported into Mexico. The high capacity trucks are coveted by Drug Trafficking Organizations for their all terrain capabilities and large capacity load towing. The case is still open and ongoing and more arrests are imminent. This case marks the 2nd such Auto Theft Ring busted this year by LPD’s Auto Theft Division.
