Jeff Bes Day in Laredo

Courtesy Xochitl Mora,

Nov 15 Jeff Bes Day in Laredo 021One of the Laredo Bucks favorite hockey players, Jeff Bes, was honored  this week  for scoring his 1,000 points in his long and tenured hockey career.  Recognized by City of Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas and members of the Laredo City Council, including newly-elected District II Council Member Esteban Rangel and District VIII Council Member Cindy Liendo Espinoza, and Bucks Vice-President and Coach Terry Ruskowski were all on hand to honor the ever-humble player.  Coach Rosco, as he is affectionately known throughout the community, pointed out that the milestone reached by Bes is not easily attainable by many players; it is a true testament to his talent as a player to have reached such a plateau, and he has been blessed and honored to have been able to coach him for the past eight years.  Cm. Liendo, equally, commended him for not only his accomplishments on the field, but more importantly, his contributions off the field in his home of Laredo.  Salinas echoed Liendo’s comments, thanking him for his mentoring and work with young children at local hospitals and at schools, discussing the dangers of drug use.  Bes, for his part, was overwhelmed and thankful for his coach’s mentoring, for the honor bestowed on him by the City of Laredo, and most importantly, for the fans’ support in Laredo. Here’s to the next 1,000 points! GO BUCKS!
