Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – The Webb County Sheriff’s Office recently received a Congressionally mandated Grant for $285,198.00. With the assistance of this grant, The Webb County Sheriff’s office has been able to purchase much needed equipment and continue to be proactive when responding to crime scenes. Sheriff Martin Cuellar has used this funding to purchase a narcotics detection unit walk thru portal for the jail, two police Ford f-150 trucks, four portable radios and one set of night vision goggles and most recently two sports utility vehicles that will be assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division. These two Crime Scene units are fully equipped with the proper tools to handle any type of criminal investigation.
“ In this economical situation that our country is in, we continue to be proactive in seeking grant monies to purchase equipment. This is one of the priorities that the Sheriff’s office was lacking prior to this new administration. Never in the history of the Sheriff’s Office has a crime scene unit been purchased.” Stated Sheriff Martin Cuellar.
