Webb County Sheriff’s Investigators Arrest Two for Stealing Copper and Trespassing

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Wednesday, September 15, 2010 Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call which prompted a quick response to a proactive approach. In turn, surveillance was initiated at the entrance of Mangana Hein Rd. and Highway 83 South. As a result, on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at approximately 9 a.m., Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested two male subjects for criminal trespass and theft.
Francisco Rodriguez, 48 years of age and Homero Rodriguez, 44 years of age, were arrested. The investigation revealed that both suspects had been stealing a significant amount of copper pipe from the property and sold it as scrap metal. The scrap metal is valued at approximately $2,200.00.
Both Francisco Rodriguez and Homero Rodriguez were arrested at the scene and remanded to the Webb County jail. Bond was set at $5,000 for each. Upon further investigation, the Webb County Sheriff’s office revealed that the arrestees had committed additional thefts in the mangana Hein area. Additional warrants were served yesterday, September 21st, after Homero Rodriguez bonded out. He was later re-arrested at the 2600 block of Guadalupe on additional theft and trespassing charges. He was served with 6 additional warrants each while still in jail custody. Bond was set at $24,000.00. Francisco Rodriguez was also served with 6 additional charges and an additional $24,000.00 bond while in jail custody. Both Homero and Francisco Rodriguez remain behind bars at the Webb County jail.
