Sheriff’s Deputies Seize 98 Boxes of Ammunition

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Thursday, September 23, 2010, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Webb County Sheriff Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a green Isuzu sports utility vehicle. The traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Iturbide and Santa Maria, avenue. The driver immediately exited the vehicle and eluded Deputies. The driver was wearing khaki pants and a striped shirt.
The vehicle was seized, upon further inspection, a hidden compartment was discovered underneath the rear seat of the vehicle. Deputies immediately found 98 boxes containing 1,960 rounds of 7.62×39 caliber ammunition. It is unclear where the vehicle was headed or who was driving the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
