(Austin, TX) – The deadline is just around the corner for entering the state’s Drive Clean Across Texas (DCAT) online sweepstakes to win a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. Texas drivers have until midnight this Sunday, September 26, to sign up to win the low-emission vehicle, which was donated by the Dallas Cowboys.
The contest, which kicked off on June 15, is part of the state’s annual campaign to encourage drivers to take simple steps to improve air quality. Texas drivers who are at least 18 years old can sign up for a chance to win the car by visiting the campaign’s website at www.drivecleanacrosstexas.org. There, drivers can also pledge to do their part to reduce air pollution.
Besides saving money on gas, drivers who choose a low-emission vehicle, like a hybrid, are taking a big step to reduce tailpipe emissions that contribute to unhealthy air. Campaign officials with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality encourage motorists to make cost-saving, no-cost, and low-cost changes in their driving and vehicle maintenance behaviors to reduce air pollution.
“Each of us is part of the solution to continue to improve air quality in our state. Doing simple things like getting a tune-up and replacing dirty air filters improves gas mileage and reduces vehicle emissions,” says Dianna Noble, TxDOT’s Environmental Affairs Division Director.
The lucky grand-prize winner in this year’s Drive Clean sweepstakes will be given the keys to the brand-new hybrid car at the Dallas Cowboys’ Valley Ranch headquarters in a ceremony later this fall. Second and third place winners will receive tickets to a Dallas Cowboys home game.
