Webb County Sheriff’s Office Seizes 150 Pounds of Marijuana

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Friday, August 20, 2010, at approximately 10 a.m., Webb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division conducted a patrol stop on a 2001 Chevy Cavalier at 83 South North of Rio Bravo. Upon further investigation, deputies noticed a large bundle in the back seat of the car. The bundle was wrapped with black electrical tape. A second large bundle was also found in the trunk of the vehicle. Upon further investigation the bundles were found to be marijuana. A total of 150 pounds of marijuana was seized . The marijuana had an approximate street value of $76,000. Arrested was Salvador Gonzalez Jr., 17, he was charged with possession of marijuana, felony 2. Also arrested was Gustavo Sanchez Rojas, 17, he was charged with Possession of marijuana, felony 2 and failure to ID, a misdemeanor.
“Our patrol Deputies continue to enforce the law and keeping drugs off the streets. This weekend is expected to be a busy back to school weekend, please rest assured that vigilance will remain in the community”. Stated Sheriff Martin Cuellar.
