The Broncos have their ten game winning streak snapped against Edinburg; fall in game three of series

(August 21st, EDINBURG, TX) –The Broncos (43-40) had their ten game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Road Runners (48-33) 7-4. The Broncos mustered only three base runners through the first 5.1 innings against Wardell Starling and fell short with a late rally in the ninth. The Broncos, winners of ten in a row, had a chance to win the series against the Road Runners at Edinburg Stadium on Saturday and they sent RHP Jeff Jamnik (4-4) to the mound to pitch against RHP Wardell Starling (8-2).

 Starling allowed just one hit, a single to the Broncos in the top of the second off the bat of Jonathan Cisneros through the first two innings.

 Jamnik was even better retiring the first six Road Runners he faced in the ball game.

 In the bottom of the third Jamnik walked the lead off man, Carlos Hereaud before getting Robert Matlock to ground into a double play.  Two outs and nobody on and Jamnik walked the next two batters.  Felix Molina then reached on an infield hit, there was a throwing error charged to D. J Dixon, the Broncos first baseman that allowed both runners to score and give the Road Runners a 2-0 lead.

 The Broncos through the first five innings against Starling mustered just three base runners on two singles and a walk.

 In the bottom of the fifth the Road Runners, already in the lead 2-0 added two more runs.  A single to start the inning by Carlos Hereaud followed by an RBI double by Robert Matlock gave Edinburg a 3-0 lead.  Wilmer Pino knocked hom Matlock with an RBI single and the Road Runner lead was 4-0.

 The Broncos cracked the scoreboard in the top of the sixth. Starling began the inning and struck out Maiko Loyola before exiting with a 4-0 lead.  RHP Carlos Rangel entered the game and walked Jonel Pacheco.  After a Dixon fly out Jose Canseco singled and Jonathan Cisneros worked a walk to load the bases.  Salvador Paniagua was hit by a pitch to bring home the first run for the Broncos and make the score 4-1 Road Runners.  Carlos Arroyo, the very next batter lined an RBI single into right field to make the score 4-2 Road Runners.

 Jeff Jamnik started the bottom of the sixth for the Broncos and allowed a lead off double, a ground out that advanced the runner to third and an RBI single to Carlos Hereaud.  Jamnik was pulled after pitching 5.1 innings, allowing seven hits, six runs (4 earned), he walked three and struck out four. He departed trailing 5-2 to the Road Runners.

 LHP Brian Buchanan (6-4) came on and allowed a double to the lefty Robert Matlock; it was the only batter Buchanan faced.

 RHP Maximinio De La Cruz (0-2) entered the game and Osiel Flores hit an RBI single and Wilmer Pino brought home another run with a sacrifice fly to give the Road Runners the 7-2 lead.

The Broncos were gifted two walks in the eighth from RHP Carlos Rangel (5-6) and stranded both runners on the base paths.

 RHP Ray Silva (2-2) came on for the Road Runners in the ninth and allowed two Broncos runs on two hits and two walks and an error charged to Road Runner centerfielder Ambiorix Concepcion.  RHP Julio Castro (1-0) came on with two outs and runners on first and second; he retired Salvador Paniagua on a fly ball to pick up his 22nd save of the year and secure the 7-4 Road Runner victory.
