Possible Suspect Vehicle in hit & Run Accident Found through Crime Stoppers Tip

  Laredo Police are in possession of a possible suspect vehicle that was in an Auto / Pedestrian Fatality Accident. The lead was attributed to a Crime Stoppers hotline tip.  The information led Laredo Police Investigators to the 1000 block of Lyon Street in Central Laredo.  The vehicle was parked in an apartment complex at this location.  No one knew who the car belonged to and witnesses stated that the car just appeared in that parking lot a few days ago.  The driver of the vehicle still remains at large.  The vehicle for now is being processed for evidence.  The Ford Explorer matches the description given by a witness at the scene of the accident and has consistent damages that are directly connected to the case. 

          On Sunday, August 22, 2010 at approx. 2:04 A.M. a male, later identified as 47 year old Anthony Gomez, was crossing the street on the 3500 block of Santa Ursula Ave. from west to east when he was hit by a vehicle that was traveling south bound on the 3500 block of Santa Ursula. According to a witness, the suspect vehicle fled the scene of the accident and was last seen turning east bound onto the 700 block of Lafayette St. The victim was transported to the Laredo Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. The Laredo Police Department still need help in finding the person responsible for the accident, the family of the victim is proceeding legal action with the Philadelphia Car Accident Attorney. If anyone knows who was possibly driving this vehicle they are asked to call the Laredo Police Department at 795-2800 or call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 727-TIPS.  All calls are anonymous and Crime Stopper callers may qualify for up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest in the case.
