Jose Canseco Hits Three Run Homer; Broncos Come Back from Six Run Deficit to Win

(August 17th, LAREDO, TX) –Jose Canseco hit a three run homer in the bottom of the first to set the tone for the Broncos come from behind victory over the White Wings in game three of the four game set. The Broncos won their seventh game in a row and have a chance to sweep the White Wings tomorrow night at Veterans Field. Laredo now has a two game lead over the Wings and Colts for third place in the United League.
The Broncos, on a six game winning streak, sent their ace to the mound RHP Juan Peralta (8-2) to face off against the White Wings RHP Johnny Montoya (0-1) in game three of the four game series.
In the top of the first against Peralta the Wings brought home two runs. The first after a walk to Luany Sanchez, Yeury Tejeda hit an RBI triple to give the Wings the 1-0 lead and the next batter, Leivi Ventura hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0 Wings.
In the bottom of the first the Broncos got their lead off man aboard via a walk. After a strike out by Loyola, Pacheco reached on an infield single and Jose Canseco, making his first start for the Broncos smoked another long ball over the left-center field wall for a three run homer, his second in as many games and he gave the Broncos the 3-2 lead.
Peralta in the top of the second gave up a solo home run to Arlon Quiroz to start the inning that tied the game at 3-3. Rodriguez then singled and Javis Diaz doubled to put runners at second and third. Yeury Tejeda came up and hit a three run homer to give the Wings the 6-3 lead. RHP Eric Eden (1-2) came in to relieve Peralta and gave up a single to Leivi Ventura. After a strikeout by Eden of Dotel, Welinson Baez hit a two run homer to give the Wings the 8-3 lead.
The White Wings added a run in the top of the third on an RBI single by Yeury Tejeda to add a run to the Wings lead; 9-3.
The Broncos chipped away at the Wings lead with a run in the third. Jonel pacheco walked and moved to second on a Jose Canseco ground out, Pacheco came home to score on the RBI single by Jonathan Cisneros and the score was 9-4 Wings.
Jonathan Cisneros brought home a run with an RBI single in the bottom of the third to make it a 9-4 Wings lead.
Carlos Arroyo hit his fifth home run of the season in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 9-5 Wings lead.
Javis Diaz hit a solo home run, his sixth of the year, to make the score 10-5 Wings.
In the bottom of the sixth the Broncos picked up a run with a double by Arroyo and then Mike Murphy singled and an error on the right fielder Arlon Quiroz brought home Arroyo to make the score 10-6 Wings.
RHP Jeff Dunn came on for his first appearance as a Bronco and pitched a scoreless inning and a third. The Broncos in the bottom of the seventh tied the game at 11-11. They brought home five runs on one hit, an RBI single by Maiko Loyola, three walks, the Wings made three errors, a fielder’s choice and a sacrifice fly by D.J Dixon.
In the bottom of the eighth the Broncos took the lead for the first time since the bottom of the first when Canseco gave them a 3-2 lead with his three run homer. Carlos Arroyo hit his second home run of the game to give the Broncos the 13-11 lead.
RHP Reyes Dorado (2-0), the Broncos closer came on and retired the Wings 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth to pick up his fifth save of the year.
