Broncos and Dillas change lead six different times; Dillas oulast Laredo 13-11

(August 7th, AMARILLO, TX)-The Broncos (32-38) fell to the Dillas (40-30) in a back and forth contest that featured six different lead changes and ended when the Amarillo plated five runs in the bottom of the seventh to win 13-11. The Broncos looking to string some wins together sent RHP Santo Hernandez (6-3) to the plate for game one vs. the Amarillo Dillas, who sent RHP Jermaine Van Buren (0-0) to the mound. The Broncos, in the top of the first brought home a run to take a 1-0 lead after Jason Diaz led off with a walk and D.J Dixon knocked him in with an RBI double. Amarillo took the lead from the Broncos in the bottom half of the first; Santo Hernandez walked the bases loaded with nobody out. Julio Martinez then tied the game with a sacrifice fly that scored De La Garza from third base. After another walk to Stephen Douglas loaded the bases again Alberto Cruz brought home a run with an RBI double. And the Dillas led 2-1.
The Broncos re-took the lead in the top of the third when Jason Diaz again led off the inning with a walk. Diaz then stole second and third base and came home to score on the RBI single by D.J Dixon, which tied the game at 2-2. Three batters late with the bases loaded Nick Mahin was hit by a pitch to bring home the second run of the inning and it gave the Broncos a 3-2 lead. In the bottom of the third the Dillas scored four runs on two walks issued by Hernandez and three hits in the inning. The big hit came off the bat of Brian Bueno, a three run double that cleared the bases. Amarillo had a 6-3 lead. The Broncos continued to battle back, in the top of the fourth, after an infield single by Carlos Arroyo, D.J Dixon brought him home with an RBI single to make the score 6-4 Dillas. Jonel Pacheco then hit an RBI double to make the score 6-5 Dillas.
Hernandez retired the Dillas in order in the bottom of the fourth and the Broncos tied the game in the top of the fifth. Jonathan Dziomba tripled with one out and came home to score on the Jason Diaz RBI single.
The Broncos took a four run lead in the top of the sixth when Salvador Paniagua hit his 18th home run of the season, a three run shot that made the score 9-6 Broncos. The Dillas went to their bullpen at this point and brought in Frank Coralla who allowed an infield single to Nick Mahin who came home to score on Doug Thennis’s RBI double to make the 10-6 Broncos.
In the bottom of the sixth the back and forth battle continued as the Dillas plated two more runs to close the gap on an RBI double by Joaquin Rodriguez and an RBI ground out by Julio Martinez. Heading to the top of the seventh the Broncos had a 10-8 lead.
Laredo plated one run in the top half of the seventh, bringing home the run on Jonathan Cisneros’s RBI single to make the score Broncos 11, Dillas 8.
In the bottom of the seventh the Dillas brought home five runs in the innings against four different Bronco pitchers. The Dillas picked up three RBI singles, an RBI walk and one run came home on a throwing error.
The Broncos sent three men to the plate in the top of the ninth and were retired in order to fall to the Dillas 13-11 in game one of the series.
